Trace Elements, an exhibition by Alison Cronin, Rebecca Keyser and Peggy Townend, will take place in the community hall on Sherkin Island, Co. Cork from Friday 2nd til Friday 9th August, 2013.

Alison, Rebecca and Peggy are all alumni of the BA in Visual Art course with DIT on Sherkin Island. This exhibition offers an opportunity to see new work by the three artists, and discover how their work has developed since they graduated three years ago.

Alison’s recent work focuses on drawing and collage, working with paper and cutting through. The work explores memory, surface and narrative. She works as Schools and Youth Coordinator at West Cork Arts Centre, and since graduating has exhibited in group shows in Cork, Bray, Kilkenny and London as well as locally.

Rebecca works figuratively using drawing, painting and photography to play with traces of residual imagery, recording that which is both seen and felt. She also works as a facilitating artist with mental health service users.

Local artist Peggy will be showing a series of paintings inspired by photographs taken on Cunnamore pier, where the fishing gear was put to rest for the winter. They are painted in mixed media and acrylic.

The exhibition is open each day from 11am til 5pm and the artists will hold a reception on Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm, all are invited to meet the artists for a chat, and tea and cake.
